Goal: to find a natural lip balm

This is replacing: my softlips balm

Their Description: “Our creamy Cocoa Butter Lip Balms come in a larger .25oz stick with a magical Badger on the label! They also contain an organic Aloe Vera Extract for added dry weather protection. The cocoa butter helps the staying power of the balm, keeping lips moisturized and soothed for a good, long time. Thick, creamy, and long lasting.”

Ingredients: Extra Virgin Olive Oil, Cocoa Butter, Golden Yellow Beeswax, Castor Bean Oil, Extract of Aloe Vera, and CO2 Extracts of Rosehip, Seabuckthorn Berry & Rosemary (yay for no parabens and sulfates)

Price: $5.00 (on website) I purchased mine at Wegman’s for $3.95

Size: .25

Texture: harder (gets softer when warmed) and thicker than typical lip balm, but does not tug at the lips.

Scent: smells like orange and cocoa butter (reminds me a little of chocolate oranges!); absolutely delicious!

Packaging: At first the packaging seemed kinda bulky, but I’ve come to like it better than traditional lip balm tubes. For one, it’s easier to find in my purse, and for two, I love the amount of product I get. Like traditional tubes, you turn a wheel to twist up more product only with this product the wheel is located between the cap and the tub. I like this better as it reduces the chances of getting turned when stored loose in my bag. Also I can hold the tube and turn the wheel to get more product with one hand J

Application: one swipe does ya!

Product used for: three months regularly, one month every few days or so

Can be purchased at: www.badgerbalm.com or Wegman’s or Whole Foods

Loved: The scent of chocolate and oranges is so delicious! It’s nice to find some natural products that don’t smell quite so “earthy”(not that there’s anything wrong with that). The ingredients are fantastic, and the company itself is very impressive. The lip balm is very conditioning with non-toxic ingredients so accidentally ingesting some of the product will not present any harm unlike some other lip products on the market. The packaging is well-thought out and durable. The product was made using conscientious supplies and processes.

Hated: The only negative comment I have about this product is that it’s very thick. I’m use to softlips which really glides on (meaning I go through tubes like crazy). I’ve used this almost everyday for three months and have half a tube left. I find that this is perfect for an over-night treatment or after exfoliating my lips, but it’s not the best for light moisture throughout the day. I would not recommend this as a base for lipstick because it’s so creamy (the color would run right off). However, if I wait about thirty minutes it makes lip products apply much smoother. I have severely chapped lips. That being said, since I’ve started using this product I am finding my lips overall are softer.

Overall Rating: 4/5 (not 5 because I think the thick consistency could be off-putting to a lot of folks)

This product was purchased with my own money. I have no affiliation with this company. My reviews are my honest opinion. Image from www.badgerbalm.com. Please leave comments, comparisons, or questions below! Thanks!
